A Note from the Executive Director

From the Desk of Deb Helm

This is my starting my 4th year as Executive Director of Kaufman County and we have had so many new things added that I would love to share with you.

1) A Born Learning Trail that is located at Ben Gill on the backside of the running trail.  The trail entails 9 learning stations where children can interact on  with caregivers, grandparents and parents alike.

2) Lending Libraries – “Take a book, leave a book”   There will be libraries all over the county before the project is completed.  Currently, the City of Terrell has bought one for every park located here in Terrell, our goal is to have them all in place before July, 2023.

3) Currently we have 11 Partner Agencies,  and with the continued support from our local Businesses, United Way of Kaufman County will be able to graciously grant more funds to these non-profits.  These 11 non-profit agencies help hundreds of individuals and families within our county.

4) We serve alongside The Hulsey Public Library with the VITA program (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) for simple tax returns. The VITA program is a free income tax preparation program for low- to moderate-income individuals and families.

My goal as your Executive Director is to recruit 100 friends who would donate $5 a month for a year or $60.00, to help me reach my $6,000 goal for 2023.

We have an outstanding Board of Directors who serve and give freely of their time and energy to help support the United Way of Kaufman County.

Thank you for your love & support!
